The first draft of my latest novel, A Shadow on the Sky, the third book in my Glass Darkly diesel punk series is now finished, coming in at just over 104k words.

104k is a bit on the long side, so I’ll beparing this down by at least ten thousand words during the editing process, to something a bit closer to 90k.
For any of you who have already read books 1 and 2, this episode will wrap up a few things, while explaining a bit more about the multi-verse in which the story is set, and as you may have already guessed, its set primarily on Hokkaido, one of the northernmost islands of Japan.
In terms of publication date, my target date is the start of Sept 2021, but I’ll probably be making a pre-order available from early July. I’ll also be re-editing book 1 and 2 in the series before book 3 is published, and will be the cover art for book 1 at the same time, so that all three books will have a consistent and hopefully distinctive style.
Clearly lots of work to do between now and September, and I’ll update on progress as I go, but in the meantime, here’s the rough sketch* produced by my artist for the new cover.
*A rough sketch according to the artist. I’d be quite happy if I could draw this well!
